Samantha Barfield Morris is a dedicated advocate for individuals facing substance use disorders and mental health challenges. Her commitment to this cause was fueled by the tragic loss of her younger brother to a fentanyl overdose in 2020, an event that deepened her passion for reducing stigma and improving access to care.


Samantha serves as the Program Coordinator for VitAL at the University of Alabama and works as a Consultant Pharmacist. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida.


In addition to her pharmacy background, Samantha is a certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, a Mental Health First Aid facilitator, and a Trauma-Informed Responses facilitator, nationally recognized through the SAMHSA Gains Center. With over 15 years of experience in residential treatment and recovery, she blends her clinical expertise with personal experience to connect with individuals in profound and meaningful ways.


Samantha takes a multifaceted approach to addiction recovery, emphasizing improved medication adherence for individuals managing both substance use disorders and mental illness. She is deeply committed to fostering resilience and hope for individuals and families affected by addiction.


She actively collaborates with first responders, healthcare providers, and community members to promote harm reduction strategies and provide essential resources that improve overall wellness. Through community events, speaking engagements, and training sessions, Samantha educates others on opioid safety, the dangers of fentanyl, and the proper use of naloxone.


Samantha lives in Milton, FL, with her husband Seth, and they have four adult children.
